Trinity Rouge Mt. Veeder Red Blend
Finally getting around to posting Day 5 in Napa, our final day. 5 years in a row visiting...hope to make it 6 next year!
I’ve had the ‘12 of this and thought it was incredible. While still nice, I didn’t enjoy this vintage as much, but I think it’s simply a style change. Starting with this vintage, they added 10% Counoise. This comes across more Grenache like than previous vintages because of this addition. The red fruit has turned more spicy (rhubarb) and there is an added peppercorn note. Brambly and slightly herbal.

Another great Classic Wine Happy Hour in the books! Always a treat to have a designated day each month where guys can pull out some unique bottles!
Wow. I raved about this all last night and it still has me thinking about it today. Out of nowhere. I haven't had much Veeder fruit, but this was outstanding. Incredibly lush. Big velvety blueberries, fig, cassis, and a creaminess to the finish. Bravo @Mark Flesher !

I always seem to screw up and not order nearly enough of this. This one goes more to the smoky, meaty side than the previous release(s), yet still has full court press of black fruit, black licorice, black pepper, and allspice. This wine does take an hour to figure itself out as this one was extremely acidic and somewhat disjointed initially. This wine poured a dark violet to the glass. The nose is black fruit, licorice with a hint of grilled meat, iodine, and a nutty character. The entry is dark black fruit, black licorice, smoke, leather, with plum and grilled meat character in the middle with some allspice kind of character. Finishes with nice acidity and a stiff, toasted tannin on the finish with lots of black pepper and fruit. This wine is on full blast, so make sure your suspenders are on. Gonna try to beg for more of this, as it will still be going strong for a while. @Shay A I think this one has your name on it.

Oct 26th, 2018Soft, smooth, and elegant....more so than most GSMs I've had. Darker fruits, black cherry, cola. I will decant next time. Glad I bought 3 bottles.

Jul 15th, 2017In a 15 bottle lineup including about 10 reds, this was probably the clear winner on reds to me. Took quite a while for this one to open up (probably 90 minutes?). Had really good blue and black fruits immediately, but was a monster after decanting. This wine was massive. The entry was blueberry and blackberry, in your face and ready to slap you around. This was different from a lot of GSM wines in the fact that this one was rather smooth and didn't have the raucousness and bramble. The middle was darker with a hint of truffle, black pepper, vanilla cookie. The finish was tannic, and when the tannin finally died this one showed a lot of elegance. Long blue and black fruit finish. I think what this one needs the most is about 3 years in bottle before trying again! Glad to have another bottle of this!
