Sep 9th, 2017I opened two bottles of this at 2pm today as a little experiment. The bottle in the photo has sat open for 9 hours now and has been sitting in a decant. What an unbelievable difference it's made. I've been impressed by this wine time after time straight out of the bottle but it's fragrance leaps out of the glass and meters away. Showing notes of tinned peach and red fruited jubey Grenache character, mushrooms in thyme, roses, lime peel, candied orange, dirt, musk and sea spray. Not so aggressive tannins, which prior to other vintages have chosen not to dominate, settling compared to the non decantered. High berry like acid, which has no profile in its finish. This is an amazing new world representation, I feel like it lacks an extra dimension in the palate comparatively however.
