Rich powerful dark fruit jumps out. Nice structure. This '11 drinks like a well-made Bordeaux with a little age on it.

Great blend! This thing becomes powerful after an initial floral bouquet and a peppery grape mid palate that boasts black cherry and spice. Real body, and power here. Deceptively subtle; always the earmark of a sleeping giant! This one is black and hulking, not jolly and green, but unlike the Hulk, it doesn't smash, but slays with its passive-aggressive
tannins, congeniality, and humility! Real Duoro winner!!

When Douro meets Bordeaux (by Prats & Symington family & former owner of Cos d'Estournel) Touriga Nacional-based plus typical Port wine grapes blend, 13m in FR oak. Deep purple, full of violet & rich black fruits, hint of savoury soy sauce-like minerality, intense & comfortable tannin round up with a bit sweet vanilla finish that lingers. ($220, SC Macao)

Dark and powerful, however I wish it was also more on the earthy mineral side. Add a little earthtone (word?) and it would be near perfect. I guess I am saying its a bit too clean for my palette. 2011 Duoro are awesome! I really like them!!!

Post Scriptum de Chryseia 2011, Douro ('2nd wine' of Chryseia). Pure and elegant. Not as overt a red as you would expect from the Douro, especially in 2011. Nothing out of place, and quite classy. Possibly a bit closed/muted right now, though there good concentration. Bordeaux approach is evident. Will be interesting to see how it evolves. A very good value (picked it up in Porto for about €13 if memory serves correct).
