This is not a chenin blanc. It’s a Cot (Malbec) which is grown in the Touraine AOP. Inky dry approachable red from the Loire valley. Met the owner, Benoit, while on a tour of his property. Younger vintage but really wanted to try it and drank well. Enjoyed with braised pork shoulder and lots of good veggies. Could use a few more years aging and I should have chilled a bit more before serving. However, very happy that this made the trip back with us and only wish I had more through summers end.

Aug 16th, 2019Bit tannic to begin with, definitely benefitted from airing out. Ate with pizza and was ok, enjoyed it more with a cherry tomato cous cous.
