Durif
Top Notes For
Bob McDonald

Dense Ruby, almost black - noticed it when decanting. Notes of blackberry, tar/creosote, liquorice, smoke. Powerful savoury and dark chocolate and fruit flavours. A very rich full bodied winter wine - a great match for Beef Curry finishing with robust grainy tannins. Made from the Durif grape which originated in the south of France and known as Petit Sirah in other parts of the world. This wine from the Mudgee district just north west of the Hunter Valley - home of big reds and little known outside of Australia.
