Red plums, cherry, smoked venison, white peach (yah viognier!), granite. Aging gracefully, tannin is softening. Solid but not quite long length

Succulent red coming from decomposing "brune et blonde" schists terraces down in the Malleval, Ampuis district. Being subject to total destemming, cold maceration and microoxigenation -among other heresies-, this one seemed like a recipe for disaster. But the artistry of Gaillard and the impeccable terroir deliver a refined yet fleshy Côte-Rôtie. Don't expect a Guigal-style, 100+ points, behemoth. There's a definitive Burgundian influence here. #côterôtie #Syrah #rhone

Great Côte Rotie from a great Côte Rotie vintage. Love the way the dark and meaty flavors play with that hint of floral and tropical.

Tasted blind, half the group thought it was new world Syrah. Fresh, ruby red cherry, licorice, bacon, eucalyptus. Damn good.

Some of the best damn Côte Rotie I've had. Love this producer. Aromatic intensity with no shortage of ground pepper and bacon fat aromas.

My favorite value cote-rotie producer by far. This is complexity in a glass. Brooding black and red fruit. Deep overripe to rotting raspberries and black cherries. Fresh mint leaves and finely ground black peppercorn with that notorious torched underbrush sense. Cedar and smoked ham notes on the finish. This is a winner for sure. 2010 vintage was blockbuster as well.
