One of my all time favorite Zin producers!!! Big strawberry nose, with cedar closet and new leather. Blueberry emerges on the palate. Spherical. Perfect body, tannins. A truly beautiful wine.

I don’t know why so many Zin producers these days (not this one) grow and make Zin so that it ends up over 15% AND has residual sugar. This wine does it right. It reflects the stony mountain vineyard it’s grown in very well. Closed at first. After 45 minutes, nose has pure black raspberry fruit, tons of cracked stone minerality, and little leathery, brambly thing, and just a touch of maple syrup. Mouthfilling but bone dry, nice structure to the palate. Really, really good.

After an hour or so of air, this is just gorgeous. Bright blackberry fruit, just-cracked stone, spice, a woodsy fungus thing, and a hint of pale maple syrup. Full- bodied and powerful, but with no jamminess or excess flab. Lots of stony minerality. Great pairing with mesquite-grilled grass fed burgers.

Smooth blackberry liqueur. Velvety and smooth, but also large and broad on the palate.

Medium to deep ruby red. Layered nose with purple flowers, dark berries and baking spices. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. A bit jammy with dark bramble berries, spices, and some dark gravel. Moderate plus finish and well rounded. Drink till 2021.

Everything you'd want in a Zin without what you don't. 90 vines, 1200 ft up Mt Veeder made by a gentle hand. Killer stuff!

Mount Veeder Zinfandel.
I really wish Mayacammas would continue the tradition of amazing mountain Zinfandel from the southern tip of the Mayacamas.

Medium ruby red. Beautiful nose with purple floral notes, dark perfumed herbs, slightly savory and baking spices (cinnamon and light cloves). Also a bit of dark berries. Moderate tannins (6/10) and medium plus bodied. Gains complexity with air and beefs up a bit. Notes of dark tight berries, almost bramble berries, lots of spices, both baking and herbs, and even a slight freshly broken twigs. Moderate plus finish and very well rounded throughout. Might get even a little better with age. Drink till 2021.
