Mid Gold in colour. Notes of Baked Apple pie and cinnamon. On the palate great depth and intensity of flavour. Ripe Chenin Blanc with oak judged to perfection culminating in a delicious white wine. The 14.5% ABV does not show. Chenin Blanc does well in the south west of Western Australia which would be similar climatically to South Africa where it is widely planted. Great wine - must buy more.

Apr 13th, 2020Green Apple aromas and flavours. Oak fairly blended and hidden at 9 years of age. An interesting wine - drink the remaining 2 bottles in the next 3 years. Refreshing / expecting more complexity. Tasted another one 21 weeks later on 2nd July 2019 with similar notes - mouldy apples and woodsy notes. The maturation in wood masks the varietal characters of the Chenin to an extent.

Feb 5th, 2019Enjoying Chenin Blanc as a more full bodied white in the colder months rather than lean Chardonnays and Rieslings. Nose of tropical fruits with the added complexity of oak maturation but not overdone. A specialty for Peel Estate and capable of medium to long term cellaring. Purchased at cellar door a few years ago. Very good. 18.
