What a terrible label, right? You should never judge a bottle by its label, but Paulett should try harder. The wine is better. The nose shows classic Riesling notes of rubber, lemon curd, lime zest and wet stone. It’s not until the palette that you might start to wonder if this isn’t your typical European Riesling. Perhaps not bone dry, but leaning that way, the complete lack of residual sugar stands out. Brisk acidity conveys soft lemon and lemon curd, bitter orange, hints of brioche and wet rock. It’s a nice, dry style of Riesling, if not a real head turner.
