Tasted blind. Older (guessed 12 to 15 years) late harvest zin? Prune, sweet raisins, slight burned caramel like tar, but in a good way. Amarone!

Recall this being an entry level offering and it ended up pretty good: squid ink color, huge nose of cherry Jolly Rancher mingled with damp Earth, incense, spice and dusty brambly currants. Broad rich fat on palate, sluggish with raisiny red fruit, vanillin & kirsch liqueur. Abrupt finish disappointed a bit but not bad overall. This has more time but likely not improving.

The nose is *very* powerful : small red berries, tea leaves, caramel and vanilla. A hinch of raspberry too. A bit of warmth as well, and a bit of plum too. Very strong. The palate is powerful too. It starts with a very acid slide that goes down for ever, small red berries all along, layers of complexity : caramel here, soft silky touches there on the sides, franc tannins in the end and a blast of a finish with plum and small red berries dancing in a firework with a nice bitterness and a soft touch that never ends. After yesterday's amarone I wanted some more. This one is more muscular, yesterday's was more subtile and gracious.
Not cheap though, around 45€

It opened up beautifully after 30 minutes in decanter , a solid 91 rating for this classic Italian Amarone
