Pascal Marchand
Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir
Really not OK for this vineyard. Band-Aid, quite tannic. Lime. Bark.

Dec 13th, 2023Wild and animalistic. For sure not something i would expect from a GC. The guests liked it but mostly i think for the GC label. The wine needs tons of air. But it tends to be overoxided before the limited flavors comes through. And i just can’t ignore that. For sure no match at all for an E&M big boy not even close. Pretty harsh tannins, orange rind and essentially almost no fruit.

Nov 11th, 2023Just OK on day one. After 2 days on my Argon line. Cardamom, Allspice, forest notes, tannins integrated, black tea, orange rind and dark cherries. I prefer the Suchots from the same vintage. Over all i don’t think that Pascal Marchand did a good job in 2010. I am surprised that he did not better with Grand Cru fruit in a good vintage. May be picked too early? 13% .

Sep 25th, 20232010 Grand Cru in 2017, so drinking a few years too early, but that is what restaurants offer for celebrations. A lot of acidity when first opened. Decanted to allow it to breathe. Opened up nicely after 45 min in the decanter. Once open, good red fruits on the nose and palate (cherry, cranberry, etc.). Some tobacco and cedar as well - the smell of a humidor and nice cigars. Enjoyed with the lamb loin steak (for me) and black label burger (my friends), as well as some pâté and other appetizers. Was very nice but a bit pricey for the experience.
