Palazzo Maffei
Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend
Last of the case. It’s been a couple of years. Still aromas of forest berries, maybe with a hint of almond and black pepper and menthol. Deep cherry. After it was open for a while there was spices and tea. Very smooth, tannins very soft and fine but still there, a bit drying, integrated, nice bitterness on the end with still a nice finish.

Oct 31st, 2020I really think the fruit is reduced this year. Still very smooth but not getting the raspberry and prune up front, only faint black cherry and then into tannins and black olive. Very fine grained tannins. Definitely changing from previous years. Closing down? Will have to check back in 2018.

Apr 23rd, 2016Thick, rich and velvety. Raisins, tobacco, bitter chocolate, raspberry. Tannins distributed around the mouth. Reasonably long finish. Nose of prune and stewed fruit.
