The bright ruby '09 Palacios Remondo Rioja 'La Montesa' is a fruit-forward blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo. Strawberry, leather and fennel aromas with hints of orange peel imbue the nose. A tad hot in the mouth, but the alcohol burn dissipates quickly with food. Picked up hints of licorice and red fruits on the moderate length finish. A real value.

Certified organic Rioja Baja. Nice but don't love it for Riojo. 60 garnacha, 30 Tempranillo. Tasty.
