Clos des Fous Latuffa Traiguén Riesling

Not like any Riesling I’ve ever had before. Drinks more like a white burgundy than a Riesling. Is that a kiss of oak? Some lemony sunshine perhaps? There’s certainly a mouthwatering acidity reminiscent of Riesling. Hmm...

Tasted blind and whiffed so badly. Never had South American Riesling, that I can recall. Never had a Riesling bottled in a burgundy bottle, that I can recall. Never had a South American Riesling in a burgundy bottle be so engaging yet so far past mercaptans that I think it’s a rough, natural Chablis or an adventurous new world Chardonnay chasing Meursault. Kudos to Pedro Para, this project is amazing. Very much looking forward to seeing what happens with all these bottlings.
