Nov 6th, 2017I was really interested to try this Ovid Syrah after a number of years, but it was a real disappointment. The nose and texture seemed to be there but it was fantastically muted. I feel like it needs a day out of the bottle so I’m going to try it again later today and see, but at first blush and after a couple hour decant, this wine did not come to the party - instead, it hid like a turtle in the shell. Since the takeover of the Vineyard, I’ve stopped taking most of my allocation.

Definitely needs 4-6 hours in decanter to begin to see the potential. Cheers
