My first O’Shaughnessy and first Napa Cabernet in over a month. Thought it would be good to make my first O’Shaughessy a well aged Premiere Napa Valley Cabernet. Five cases produced.

The nose shows; ripe, deep; blackberries, black plum skin, black raspberries, dark cherries, blue & purple fruit mix with some poached strawberries & raspberries on the edges of the glass. Softly layered baking spices; cinnamon, light clove & vanilla. Medium intensity, softened dark spice, dark chocolate bar, cocoa powder notes, anise, tobacco, leather, steeped black tea, dry crush rocks, limestone, light herbaceous notes, dry underbrush with blue & dark florals, lavender & violets.

The body is full. Tannins 75% resolved, soft, round & velvety. The structure, tension, length and balance have hit its high point and perhaps just over the top of the bell curve. The fruits are ripe and really beautiful. There is layered segment where you get just a slight touch of Welches grape juice. Blackberries, black plum skin, black raspberries, dark cherries, blue & purple fruit mix with some poached strawberries, pomegranate & raspberries on the edges of the glass that shine more brightly on the palate. Nicely layered baking spices; cinnamon, light clove & vanilla. Raspberry cola, medium intensity, softened but, more palate pronounced dark spice with some light heat, dark chocolate bar, cocoa powder notes, anise, tobacco, leather, slight hints of smokey grilled meats, steeped black tea, dry crush rocks, limestone, gritty penetrating volcanic minerals, dark, dry earth, light herbaceous notes, dry underbrush with blue & dark florals, lavender & violets. The acidity is like a gentle rain shower. The finish is well balanced fruit & earth, well integrated, ruby, elegant with polish and length for days.
