8 Years in the Desert Zinfandel Blend

Another Dave Phinney offering, a blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah & Syrah with aromas of dusty berry fruits with sweet pepper spice notes. On the palate rich blackberry fruit with oak, herb and currant tones. Well integrated on fine tannins, lingering ending with earthy mineral character. Very nice!

So this was huge. 2 hours later was drinking nice but still needed more time. I will wait a couple of years to open the next one but this is certainly a good wine.

Excellent Zinfandel blend from Orin Swift. The backstory of this wine is almost as great as the wine. Non-compete in a contract from selling of a vineyard, didn’t allow Orin Swift to produce a Zinfandel for 8 years. Hence 8 years in the desert. Just spectacular on the nose with hints of blackberry and cherry. On the palette it is enticing and young, bountiful fruit. Would probably benefit from another year or two in the bottle, but is spectacular now.

In the mouth some fresh red fruit and cherry acidity.

Intense wine! Dark fruit, chocolate, and coffee. One minute finish
