Note: this is the 2016 Syrah.
Color is a clear, deep red violet. Nose has moderate heat, with overtones of mushroom, forest floor, earth, twigs, and roast beef. A crazy cross between pinot noir and syrah scents.
Strange tannin structure. At the entry, it seems like it will be huge tannins. However, as it rolls across the tongue the tannins die off very abruptly. I get a lot of Earth and sour stone fruit. This is a really strange Syrah. I'm normally a huge fan of syrah, and give it a lot of leeway. But I'm not loving this one.

More like a Pinot Noir than a Syrah. Only good thing about it is the lack of tannins.
