Not the biggest Syrah fan, but when a meal calls for it, this is a favorite. Tons of pepper, spice, anise and violets. Consistently good.

The '06 Novy Syrah 'Rosella's Vineyard' pours a bright ruby with an explosion of blackberry, bacon fat, pepper, Provencial herb and road tar aromas. It turns more savory than fruity on the palate. Full-bodied with smooth tannins and a gorgeous long lingering spicy finish.
