Good purity of fruit and not overly oaked. From an excellent vineyard.

Loads of pure fruit here. If you enjoy your Napa cabs with more fruit before they go to secondary notes, I’d say it’s time to enjoy this one. It’s beginning to show some muddled fruit profiles, with blackberries, black cherry, and currant but it also has a nice graphite note. Savory in terms of it having a charcoal like note but not meaty. Mid palate is dense and soft. Very nice.

On the nose, mulberries, black currants, blackberries, blueberries, anise, dark earth violets and perfumed dark florals. Body is leaner than previous vintages I've had. Dusty medium tannins, blueberries, blackberries, mulberries, dark cherries, dark chocolate, mocha, gritty chalky minerals, light caramel & vanilla, Tannins get gluier with black currants & some tarry notes on the longer finish. Barrel tasted the 2016 vintage at the Nickel & Nickel Entrecôte. Photos of the environment they set up for their cellar tasting and the lunch served on the grounds afterwards.

Still a very young wine needing time to hopefully develop. One of the more simplistic N&N wines.

Surprised how well it's drinking at such a young age. Nice way to end the Hawaiian vacation at Neiman Marcus restaurant!

Enjoyable tasting event with Far Niente wines tonight. I've had a few Nickel & Nickel, but never any of Far Niente's own wines.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I wonder if age had something to do with this, as again, I was underwhelmed. If I wouldn't of known this was single vineyard cab, I would have guessed a cab, petite sirah/Malbec Blend. Lots of those tart fruit notes on the nose. Fruit is pure, but it was all rhubarb, blackberries and plums. Finish seemed not ready. Need to revisit in no shorter than 5-7yrs.

Deep and dark chocolate expressions that I've never tasted before. Had a single glass and paired perfectly with my medium rare NY Strip. Ahhh...life is good. Nicely done Mortons!
