Popped and poured. I thought this was pretty darned good. Much more restrained than I expected with fresh red and blue fruits, some earth and substantial structure. Drinking well now but should drink well through 2028

Merlot Monday? Tasty glass of wine here. Oak nicely integrated and gobs of dark fruits in a really fresh expression of merlot. Silky smooth.

An absolutely gorgeous deep ruby color with clearness and a wide brim. Vanilla bean, toasted oak, spices, and gobs of red fruit dominate the nose. 100% Merlot from Oakville, this has the body and balance of a great Cab without sacrificing the fruit and smoothness of the varietal. So much depth here, with firm tannins and a really elegant mouthfeel. Full bodied, but still nimble on it’s feet. The palate consists of fresh raspberries, strawberries, blackberry cobbler, and cherries. The more earthy notes, such as moist earth, old leather, and more oak, come with air. Remarkable balance keeps this from becoming a fruit bomb. One of the best domestic Merlots you can find.

Plum and dark berry with a silky finish. Still a little tight so give it a decant if drinking now.

Restrained when first opened then developed nicely over the next hour. Silky smooth tannins and blue fruit flavors.

Excellent. See my review for 2013. Just as good.
