Evangelho Vineyard Mourvedre

Hand bottled this mag for son’s first bday. I always thought this vineyard hit a sort of aromatic peak in its first year of life before quieting down a little. Explosive nose, juicy, raw tannin, delicious.

Muddled black berries and cherry notes backed by a core of whole cluster herbaceousness and umami character. It’s shed some baby fat and the savory side is driving the wine; licorice, fennel, clove, and leather. All propped up by lovely dried violet and sweet citrus, and a kiss of fig.

Tactile, energetic, soulful. Represents its origin very well, classic Evangelho floral tones and silky, lengthy tannins. Nose is ripe black raspberry, black cherry liquor, juniper, rosemary, crushed wildflowers and fur. Palate is upright, crunchy, and moves from fresh fruit into savory herbs and whole cluster spice. Again bramble, kirsch, licorice, juniper and blood orange, spices. Young with a very raw energy right now.

Wild berries, wild florals and spice on the nose. Wild berries, pepper, spice, chunky dry dark minerals, perfume florals, touch of brown sugar and sage. Lean and dry to bright fruit finish.

Bright sappy wine, cherries, woody tannins, the real deal

Earthy and dark fruited. At first I was worried the fruit was stewed, but it’s not at all. Ripe but good balance. Nice wine. 13.4%

Fantastic, delicious, slight raisin/fig in the finish (beautiful & delicious), tannin needs 3 years; sprite woody, will mellow nicely.
