Very pale lemon in colour. See previous Delectable note of 178 weeks ago. Intense grapefruit notes on nose and palate - honeyed notes. Still good tension but with that strange oxidative note I couldn’t put my finger on as per last tasting.

Have always been a big fan of New Zealand Chardonnays. This Neudorf has a very funky toasty nose with lees stirring in evidence. Owned by Judy and Tim Finn, nothing to do with NZ rock band , Crowded House. On the palate some vanillan oak and Buttery notes. Medium intensity and medium acid. A very well made Chardonnay with complexity at this young age. Bob Campbell a Master of Wine from NZ gave this 99 points.

In the World Rugby theme this is the New Zealand Entry - a well made Chardonnay from Nelson. Pale lemon in colour. Grapefruit aromas. Funky solids on the palate with white peach. Shows how well NZ Winemakers handle the varietal. Shows profound intensity - the palate medium + bodied. One of the 1001 wines. Had another bottle 160 weeks later on 6th November 2021. I preferred it 3 years ago marginally for the fresher citrus flavours. Will probably have the next one sooner. Had that “milky” note I can never put my finger on.
