Moss Wood
Moss Wood Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Very dark Ruby - almost black - opaque at 19 years. Herbal and minty with cassis and tobacco leaf. On the palate still tasting young. An exceptional vintage for Moss Wood. I bought a dozen on release and have 5 left which I will drink over the next 10+ years. A brilliant cross between the black fruits of SA Cabernet and the Herbaceousness of Margaret River Cabernet. In the end the latter wins out in this exceptional Cabernet. See previous 4 Delectable notes on this vintage.

Jan 21st, 2024A whiff of oak initially. Minty, herbaceous, plum and mulberry. The assertive tannins in its youth are resolving but still 5 to 10 years in front of it in a cool cellar. Balanced, elegant yet medium plus bodied at the same time. The quintessential Margaret River Cabernet. Have been a long time fan of Moss Wood and in summary, over the years, not as herbal as usual with more cassis and black currant in this excellent vintage.

May 7th, 2022A beautiful Margaret River Cabernet nose which is Herbaceous Elegant Intense and persistent with some red and black berry aromas From a good vintage and made by one of the Icons of The district in Wilyabrup. Still with a good future of 10 years plus.

Jun 11th, 2017Has always been one of Australia's leading Cabernets and recognised as such in the Langtons classification, although others are catching up IMO. This 2005 not the usual herbaceousness that one usually gets with MW. Medium to full bodied still with a 10+ year future. Went well with lamb steaks.

Oct 3rd, 2016Always a pleasure to have a 10+ year old Moss Wood and a good steak. The trademark herbal brambly aromas with a restrained palate needing more mid palate fruit to be a great Moss Wood like the 90 91 95 etc. An excellent wine nevertheless.

May 25th, 2016Rated as a 10/10 vintage by Moss Wood. I am a long time fan but I found this restrained, elegant and lacking in fruit which will not be changing with further cellaring. Still a classy wine but not as good as it could have been. 18.
