The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier is a fine vintage for drinking now and over the next 10-15 years. It's perhaps not quite as expressive or dynamic as some of the other top vintages, but it offers tremendous appeal and immediacy. Silky tannins and plush contours add to its considerable allure. A burst of dark red fruit, plum, sweet spice and cedar linger. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2024)

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier is still a baby. I would not bother opening a bottle anytime soon. Dark and potent, with huge tannins, the 2016 packs a serious punch of intensity. A whole range of floral and mineral notes begin to emerge, but the 2016 is searing in its intensity. I expected a bit more here given the pedigree of the year. Perhaps that will come in time. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier has aged impeccably. A dark, sumptuous wine, the 2007 is endowed with copious dark cherry, plum, gravel, bittersweet chocolate, crushed rocks, sage and lavender all meld together in this potent Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. What a terrific debut this is. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2024)

One of the sexiest wines I’ve had in a while, and that’s saying something. Velvet smoking jacket cool. The nose is campfire, pen ink, toasty oak, briary berries, cherry cordial, freshly turned soil. The palate is a cacophony of flavors; rich and reduced red berries, blueberry pie, leather, warm spices, cedar, red and black currants, beef jerky, menthol, earthy minerals, charcoal smoke, river stones, fresh tobacco leaf, black plum skin. Says goodbye with a very firm handshake. Finish lasts for a solid 2 minutes. Took about a 4 hour decant to really strut its stuff. A relative baby; she’ll continue to evolve for another decade or two. Not quite ready for marriage; but right now is a great time to go for a spin with this fun, racy young woman. Thank you @David L for gifting this beauty. Wishing you and Kristen a very Happy Holiday Season.

On the nose; ripe, powerful, blackberries, spiced black plum, dark liqueured cherries, baked strawberries, mocha chocolate, dark chocolate, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, haunting blue fruits, river stones, crushed rocks, chocolate pudding, spice-box, fresh tobacco leaf, graphite, violet and fresh dark floral bouquet. The palate is just starting to nicely resolve. It’s thick, rich and powerful with dusty tannins. Dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, black plum, baked strawberries, boysenberries, blue fruits that come & go, mocha, dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon stick, chocolate pudding, spice-box, graphite, fresh tobacco leaf, dark dry earth, stones, crushed rocks, dry herbs, spearmint, underbrush, violets & fresh dark florals, round acidity, big structure, long length, perfect tension, long, round, rich and very elegant long beautifully polished finish. It’s in its first year of good drinking with another 15 years plus of good drinking ahead. It has the potential for 2-3 more points with 5-8 more years in the bottle. My first Cabernet Sauvignon from Morlet Family Vinyards—I've only been lucky enough to taste and have been dazzled by their sublime Chardonnays. That said, the 2010 Mon Chevalier didn't disappoint, displaying classic Knight's Valley character, it's a treasure trove of cassis, black currants, incense and sandalwood, tar and menthol. Black pepper and spice box. The palate is a layered as the nose, with a dark-fruited succulent core framed in an understory of fine, mouthcoating tannins. 15.0% ABV

Classic fruit. Big and Jammy. Tons of dark fruit and a touch of earth and mineral. Excellent.
