On the 12th day of Christmas The Wine Gallery sent to me, a bottle of Moondarra Cuvee Maree NV from Gippsland, Victoria. This lucky last bottle in my wine advent calendar topped off the #12winesofchristmas 🎄🍾

Fun fact about Moondarra: Their Pinot Noir is named ‘Conception’ because the winemaker/owners eldest son was conceived in the middle of the vineyard 🙊

This bottle of Maree however is named after his wife. It’s made from predominately Pinot Noir with a touch of Chardonnay.

It’s a blush peach colour in the glass. Hints of apples, cherries and crisp lemon rise from the glass. While in the mouth it reflects the aromas with a lovely refreshing and smooth mouthfeel. Dry and delicious!

We enjoyed it with our lemon and herb crusted chicken on the bbq and we shared the little Xmas pud which also matched quite nicely 👌

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #gifted #opinionsaremyown

You may have seen, yesterday Mr.Spittoon and I travelled through the wine region of Gippsland from our couch! For the latest #thetcwineclub we decided to go for 3 bottles all from the same region so we could get a taste of what this Victorian wine region is like.

Two of the bottles this month are made by Moondarra. I had to laugh when I saw the 'accidentally vegan' note on the back of the bottles. These guys are known for their natural, low intervention viticulture - I.e chemical fertilisers aren't used, no irrigation and the vines are trimmed as infrequently as possible in order to produce wines that reflect the land as much as possible.

This sparkling ✨ is named after the winemakers wife - Maree and is made from Chardonnay. It's a yellow shade with a hint of brass on the eye. On the nose it made me think of apples and lemon biscuits. While on the palate it has a smooth effervescent. It's light and easy drinking. Very enjoyable plus the cap has a cute little ladybug 🐞 design that'll look good in my Wearing Memories ring 💍.

Cuvée Maree, full Pinot sparkling. Super meaty with some awesome mineral smokiness going on.
