Fig and spice on the nose. Pleasant jammy strawberry, fig and holiday spice on the palate with balanced acidity and subtle slightly tingling tannins. Would work well as a dessert wine paired with vanilla ice cream/zinfandel drizzle.

Apr 9th, 2024Monte de Oro seems to step up their game every year with the Zinfandel (22% Petite Syrah). I’m not a fan of the grape but this winery makes it work. Dark fruit and tobacco on the nose. Dense on the palate. Earthy tobacco, graphite, black pepper, date, nutmeg. Moderate finish of oak and tobacco.

Dec 19th, 2022Again - I’m not ordinarily a zin fan but this is pretty good. Good floral nose. Mouthwatering acidity with pronounced strawberry and raspberry on the slightly sweet side. Muted tannins with moderate lingering g finish.

Dec 24th, 2020Earthy, smokey aroma. Not very jammy for a Zin. Tobacco/smoke flavor, but nice tannin. Not my favorite but not bad either.
