This was the 2002. Patrick Arnould's Carte d'Or takes a number of years to develop. He trades red wine to Delphine Cazals for the 50% Mesnil Chardonnay in this wine, and uses old Verzenay Pinot from his estate for the other half. It takes a while for these top quality ingredients to marry in the bottle, but if you can wait the aged wine is as good as anything. Nutella like hazelnut richness is seamlessly joined to crackling chalk 13 years later!
