La Rosine Syrah
Here’s a really fun Northern Rhône stunner that is way more serious than the price would reflect. Medium cherry red with little streaks of violet and a wide brim. A nice and pretty nose featuring olives and black pepper. Tart cherries, asphalt, and blackberries. Violets and smoke top things off.
From grapes grown right outside of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, this is a rather elegant Syrah. Restrained, rather than muted, it’s a subtle and mellow take on the grape. Full bodied but still graceful and very well balanced. The restrained fruit on the palate begins to really blossom after a few hours. More pepper and smoke with pretty dark fruit. Medium long finish and all in its right place. Really fun stuff.

Big wine but also very refined. Black cherry, plums. I have had a bunch of Rhone Syrah’s lately and they have all been fantastic.
