More compact and dense tannin this year. Muscular and soaring aromatics given its richness

Sep 25th, 2022An impressive first run with this producer. Started off very pure fruited with high-toned black cherries and cassis, along with some light reduction that gave it a flinty quality. As the reduction blew away, it revealed beautiful stem aromatics - flowers and incense, with a strange, yet attractive iodine-like twist. Excellent structure, with chalky tannins, fleshy fruit, and limestone-derived minerality/verticality. A little volatile acidity perceivable in the backend, but it doesn’t detract from the lengthy finish. Frankly, it drank like a cru Beaujolais (would have called it if blinded), but perhaps with more weight and tannins (rougher too). Paired with some lamb tacos, this was in a league of its own. A one on the binary scale!

Sep 19th, 2021Showing some really lovely bottle maturation notes. Can feel the warmth and strength of the vintage in the tannin, but the vibrant Carignan fruit is maturing, I think this was at a prime drinking point. Leather, baked brambly fruits, animal and clove, fur, crushed flowers, rocks.

Mar 13th, 2021A lighter touch this vintage, very fresh and acid driven. Tight. Needs some time to flesh out a little on the palate. Gorgeous array of fruit, spices, and florals right now.
