Maurice Schoech
Kaefferkopf Alsace Grand Cru Riesling
Off dry and rich yet not at all heavy. Deep flavors of lychee, rose petal and honey with some elegant stony minerality that extends on a long finish. I would welcome just a bit more acidity to help cut the richness but no doubting the greatness of this wine and its affinity for Asian cuisine

1 person found it helpfulJun 20th, 2017100% Riesling from different plots on granite soils at the top the Kaefferkopf Grand Cru, on the south-east facing slopes above Ammerschwihr, between Kaysersberg and Niedermorshwihr, northwest of Colmar (They also make a blend of Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris from this grand cru, one of the only two grand crus is Alsace which allow blends of different varieties). Elegant, great complexity at 10 years old

Dec 29th, 2023Just not for me. I accept that this is a decent wine but it isn't to my personal taste.
