2002/7/16 with katsuo with.m negi ponzu, fried kinu tofu and amazu Yamagata dashi, aji karaage, etc. I have a soft spot for this domaine and this wine I particular, as my wife and I loved it so much back in the mid-2000s - it was bright, juicy and crunchy but with sneaky depth. I cellared a few bottles, of which this was the last - and considering that the domaine was bought in 2007, there haven’t been any more for a long time. The second-to-last bottle was nice, but felt a bit stretched...but that wasn’t the case here. The nose shifted through game, bruised flowers, undergrowth, and cherry syrup fruit. The palate was led by firm acidity, but that crunchy fruit was still there. This really was quite multidimensional, and while it might be hard to imagine it improving much in the aggregate, it still let you dream. Not a bad way to go out.

2020/8/4. I laid down a couple of bottle of this 14 or 15 years ago - we really enjoyed it young and I thought it would be fun to finally open one given the occasion. There was a nice, mellowed, woodsy bouquet and still some pretty red fruit. It’s more about elegance ease than depth or complexity, but that’s just fine.
