The 2021 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard is laced with dark red/black fruit, leather, licorice, dried herbs and spice. It is an especially savory Zinfandel with plenty of complexity, but perhaps a bit less overt fruit than most of the other Zinfandel bottlings. This is such a distinctive wine. Jul 13th, 2023inky purple; licorice, plum, black cherry, tar, vanilla, spearmint; dense, powerful black fruit, exotic spices, long velvety finish, surprising balance for 16.7% ABV; sourced from 130 year-old head-trained vines in the steepest non-terraced hillside vineyard in Sonoma County, Helen Turkey was consultant

Crazy young, but fun to see the potential here. Quite spicy, nimble, yet the core of this wine has intense layers. Black peppercorn, rhubarb tart pie and underripe raspberries dominate the nose. Cedar, candied black cherries and blackberry fig on the palate. I called this Sonoma Zinfandel. Thanks, @Bill Makens .

The most decadent of the zins tonight. It was high octane without being overboard. It was full bodied without being flabby. Ripe black and blue fruits in the nose with sandalwood and a baked cherry pie & toasted oak finish. Light on the pepper/spice. Drinking great now with plenty of life ahead.
