As soon as I poured it I knew that we were in for a treat. Probably the same color as when it was bottled. Mersault-like, which I'm not likely to say about Martinelli often. Perfect with a cheese plate lunch.

I need to retract my rants about old California Chards after drinking the hazy light gold '99 Martinelli Chardonnay 'Gold Ridge'. It still had intense baked bread, tropical fruit and honeyed orange zest aromas. The tongue tingled with fresh mineral-laced flavors of pineapple and apricot. A smoky, nutty finish of nice length. A real shocker which has me rethinking Russian River Chards.
