Martinelli
Gianna Marie Syrah
Total blackout in the glass. Followed by scents that I have a hard time identifying. Overall theme brought me back to a medicinal quality. Tightly wound bottle that needs decanting and a few hours to open up. Wild game, cocoa powder and black mushrooms fill the mouth. Lacking finish that does not present itself. Not sure to love or hate this bottle...

Aug 28th, 2016Of the 2 CA Syrahs we had this one surprised by its non-readiness. Still a bit backwards, but not awkward. Rich kirsch nose, followed by dark, blue fruit and tons of minerality. Blueberry liqueur, cherry compote. Long tannins. Wait 2+ years on this and decant longer than the 30 mins I did.
