Martin Ray
Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Had the 2003 for Christmas dinner. From magnum. It was beautiful though perhaps past its prime. Velvety and full, the finish was short and thin. Smelled beautifully of leather and tobacco and black brambly fruit.

Dec 30th, 2018Utterly delicious!!! Put this bad boy through the Vinturi into a decanter, and I was on dream street after that!
I can't recall ever having a Cabernet from this legendary AVA, but this was spectacular. I read the notes on Monte Bello and Domain Eden, and always imagine these wines being tough in their youth, but glorious with aging time.
I'm very impatient when it comes to wine, so to have this wine singing at such an early period in life was very gratifying. Deep dark fruits laced with dark chocolate and vanilla bean were the highlights for me. The acidity started to firm up after about an hour and a half to indicate aging potential, but if you have the '13 you should give it a whirl.
Serious QPR! Keep em comin Courtney!
