Feb 26th, 2013Forgot to post these from the other day. Mark, Dan and I were able to enjoy a relaxed afternoon at the wine storage facility, and some unique stuff was opened, as always!
Won’t rate this one as the wine has lost almost all its flavor. Lots of apple juice notes and heavy butterscotch. Still has incredible texture though. Always fun to see how these older Marcassin’s hold up, courtesy of Dan.

This is as good as aged Chardonnay gets for my palate (your mileage may vary). Color was holding with a faint touch of green. Buttered popcorn on the nose. Great luxurious finish. Parker tasted this wine in 1998 and gave it 92 points. I’m going to have to respectfully suggest that score should be revised. Aging these wines (especially Hudson Vineyard) is like betting on an inside straight. the wines are great young and it would seem the risk is unjustified especially when you’ve had some disappointing examples where time has not been kind. So you usually lose, but when you win (like this wine did today) it is beyond memorable. Thanks very much Dan Fitzgerald

Apr 27th, 2019This one is definitely past prime. Is it ready to dump down the sink? Umm...it's Marcassin, so NO!! This wine had an herbal, rosemary and oregano hint to the aged peach blossom, Asian pear, and coriander notes on both the nose and palate. Finished with a faint butterscotch but a lot of the character of the wine was more mineral driven. Neat wine to enjoy!
