Marc Sorrel
Le Gréal Hermitage Syrah
Memories of having this at Mangevins in Tain L’Hermitage back in 2018. Bold then, this has shed a couple pounds, still an infant in many ways, the progression of tannin and integration of its plush fruits show the progression. Amazingly graceful and vivid, its power is caressing suggesting a Burgundian touch. Ripe and liquor of black raspberry and some currant, Chambord-esque, peach pit, talcum, distilled violet, an array of smokey tones; smoke beef brisket, smoldering charcoal, toasted pink and black peppercorns, star anise, hot pebbles, iron, truffle. Smart use of whole cluster here, it’s lift and complexity bring volumes to the wine. Superb!
