Malk Family Vineyards
Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon
Bright blackberry and plum fruit and eucalyptus hop out of the glass. Nice violet streak with a touch of graphite. Beautiful acidity make for a nice juvenile cab. Not something I’d hold much longer. But very pleasant now.

Mar 10th, 2018Red fruited and developing well. Brandied black cherries and luscious blackberries, Some earthy bordeaux like touches to it. A nice lengthy finish. A touch hot for me, as expected from Stags Leap District, but overall quite nice.

Dec 25th, 2016Elegant and sophisticated. Dark, smooth and silky. Enough!
This excellent wine is balanced from the opening until the end. The dark cherry and plum fruits complement the supple earthy finish. Excellent pairing with Prime Rib, stormy weather and the one you love. I wish this was not my last bottle of this Malk as it can hold for 4-6 more years.

The 91.6 CT average is perhaps a bit low on this one. Thought it was a 94 without really even thinking about it. This wine was "bottle decanted" for about 20 minutes. Poured with a very thick, black inky and spicy blackberry perfume into the glass with purple edges. The nose is ripe "tangy" blackberry. The entry is blackberry cassis with a sweet, chalky and chewy fruit. Nice fine-grained texture classic of what I get with Stag's. A little darker in the middle, and finishes with a toasted oak and black pepper, with a silty blackberry finish! Still VERY young. I really can't even imagine drinking a younger vintage of this wine right now IMO, as I feel that I would be missing quite a bit, even if decanted for hours.
