The nose is an intriguing blend of red, black and dried fruit, but also a strong aroma of wet wood, mushrooms and a tang of minerals. The tannins are quite fine, leading the palette to earth first and fruit second. It's a bit more heavy fisted then past Gigondas I've had - I could be wrong, but it seems fairly Syrah driven - and while I'd prefer something a bit more delicate and nuanced this still drinks nicely.
