Alto Vulture Aglianico del Vulture
This is absolutely delicious. Great fruit smooth as a babies butt.

Mar 19th, 2016Session 3 of Wine Essentials One at the Institute of Culinary Education Center for Wine Studies.
Aglianico del Vulture is the only D.O.C.G. wine in Basilicata. This Aglianico, despite its slight youth, looks older, with a brick color and viscosity that indicates a riper grape. On the prunish and earthy nose are smoke, spice, cedar and fragrant wood. I also detect dark stewed fruit, vanilla and dark cherry. On the palate, this is a mouthful, with peppery, dark, smoky and heavier flavors. It is also quite tannic and quite high in alcohol. A sharp, salty Pecorino Romano would be a great match for this edgy country wine.
