Prapò Barolo Nebbiolo
The 2020 Barolo Prapò is a complex, beguiling wine that sizzles with Serralunga nuance. Graphite, scorched earth, lavender, sage, menthol and licorice meld into a core of sepia-toned fruit. This expressive Barolo has a ton to offer. Its mid-weight personality is a bit deceptive, but there is a lot of wine here. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2024)

The 2019 Barolo Prapò is laced with dark red cherry fruit, chalk, mint, white pepper and a host of savory/mineral underpinnings that add complexity. In this tasting, the 2019 comes across as a bit tight and nervous, but that should not be an issue for readers who can be patient. The muscle and drive of Serralunga really come through on the finish. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2023)

The 2018 Barolo Prapò is a dark, dense wine. Red cherry, plum, tobacco, cedar, spice, smoke, cured meats and menthol add do an impression of brooding intensity. The Prapò has more body and overall depth than the Serralunga Barolo, but also quite a bit more tannin. I have a slight preference for the Serralunga bottling in this vintage. The 2017 Barolo Prapò shows the breadth and volume that are typical of this site, and, yet, retains a very appealing sense of transparency. Super-ripe, dark cherry, spice, leather, earthiness, tobacco and incense bring out darker shades of Nebbiolo. Overall, this is a relatively accessible Barolo from a site where the wines can be much more dense and muscular. The 2017 is terrific. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2021)

Fresh, elegant, rose petal, of the earth, fresh and dried herbs, complex and layered, that precision. Is elegant and powerful at the same time. Beautiful!
