First vintage ever produced of 100% Guarnaccino.
I went to visit Luigi in his grotto, there are 600 in Chiaromonte, where we tasted the wines and he decided he wanted to share with me one of the 2021 which he hadn't tasted for a while.
The wine found a balance, a harmony that 2022 still lacks. The tannin is softening, expression of fruit is more focused, the balsamic.. we have a great wine in the glass that again the day after is simply stunning.

Absolutely one of the best tastes i have had recently for so many reasons, but above all, the discovery of this varietal which is hardly produced and has always been kept unvoluntarily secret from this region.
Extremely long and a real pleasure to sip.
It goes without saying there's a huge curiosity on the future of this wine.

Guarnaccino is a varietal that was registered by Luigi Lauria in 2018.
2021 first vintage
I had tasted the white and the rose, but the true potential of this variety is written in the red wine, of course.
Here, the 2022, that is in the shops now, is a bit tight; the wine needs time in the bottle and surely a good decanting when served.
Quite an important tannin, dark fruit, and a unique balsamic.. perhaps a bit of camphor or like olive tree leaves used in an oil for massaging.
Very long finish.
The second day, the wine has softened the edges a lot, and it results more enjoyable too.
