Darker ruby with slight bricking around the edges. Slightly muted nose of cinnamon, licorice, and spice. There is some fruit left here but it’s starting to fade, leaving a good bit of heat from the alcohol and good structure. Full bodied and yes, it absolutely does drink like a Cab, with nice acid and good balance despite the bigness of this Merlot. Some of that beautiful Mount Veeder still shows on the smooth palate in blue and black berries, white pepper, and chocolate for days. Long delicious finish with more spice and a touch of oak.
