Terrific wine from Matt Trevisan, the 2009 Sticks and Stones is grenache-driven with a lot of mourvedre and a touch of syrah. Very elegant on the palate - probably is peaking now so I wouldn't recommend holding onto it much longer - but a great example of a mid-level Rhone-style blend from Paso.

America's answer to a French CdP! Excellent and without the earth! This is how you blend GSM grapes!

Linne Calodo makes some of the most interesting wines from Paso Robles, mainly because of the talent of the owner/winemaker Matt Trevisan and his interest in creating unique blends. This 2009 "Sticks and Stones" is a GMS blend that's very, very good...but not great. Seems as if the fruit was picked a bit late, as the wine has a bit of a cloying character reminiscent of slightly (and I emphasize slightly) overripe fruit. The flavors are intense to be sure, and come into better focus if you drop the wine 2-3 degrees below cellar temp. Still one of the coolest wineries in Paso, but I have to say that this is a good (but not great) example of Matt's talent.
