Reporting on this bottle because the last 4 I opened were drain pours, this still shows decent fruit, but clearly mature, I think this is a fair evaluation of where it is today.

About 6-8 weeks ago, I posted on the 1999 Les Cailloux CdP that I acquired through a Bay Area retailer no longer in business, the wine being a gray market import — that 1999 was virtually dead. I’m sad to report that this first bottle I’ve opened of the same wine (but 2000 vintage) has the same telltale problem, bordering on being a drain pour, though clearly better than the 1999. FYI — the gray market importer, who I’ve never heard of, was Thomas Wine Imports, Mission Hills, CA. Be VERY careful if you happen to see either 1999 or 2000 Les Cailloux CdP in a wine shop or on a wine list, check the back label carefully. I will NOT be dumping my remaining bottles of these on the auction market, so if you see one, it didn’t come from my cellar. A sad outcome for what should still be a very fine CdP!!

Elegant and with time rich and complex.

This bottle impressed me. Pristine, maturing, elegant and woodsy but not unduly oxidative. Mid weight, with savory red and black fruit.
