Another excellent Chenin by Leo. Not quite as natty as the 2016, with no evidence of sediment from the lees. But all the classic aromatics and laser-like bright acidity are there. Perhaps an even earlier pick than the previous vintage at 12 % ABV. Just a lovely wine for the price.

I have great affection for this producer and particularly his affinity for Chenin Blanc. Of the three vineyard designates this is my personal favorite. Classic white flower, melon and pear aromatics that are very lifted and really sing at room temperature. Lemon pith, green apple and chamomile on the mid palate with subtle leesy texture. Great balance of richness, precision, and pure pleasure. Great palate weight but no heaviness, with ripping acidity. I particularly enjoy the fact that this wine leans toward the natural side- no filtration, minimal racking and bottled sur lie though it did complete malolactic. Tiny berries give natural intensity and concentration and allow the final blend to capture the delicacy that I love about Chenin Blanc, requiring no additions and no manipulation. Recommend for Loire Valley fans.
