Layne Vineyard
TNT Tannat
Opened this to start my binge of the last season of GOT. Day Wines, Dundee, Oregon is the producer. This is 100% Tannat grapes from Layne Vineyard, Applegate Valley AVA, southern Oregon. Bright purple-red, light to moderate pigment extraction. Some black currant in nose. Not much flavor initially, cherry-citrus tang in finish. Needs time to open, acidity is high with a mouthful of seed and skin tannins. Moderate astringency on finish. Red fruit flavors, mostly cherry, gradually emerge, with cherry-orange in finish. Takes a full two hours before wine fully integrated; the seed tannins resolve but the skin astringency remains moderate.
