It was travellingcorkscrew.com.au’s 8th year anniversary this week. To celebrate Mr Spittoon and I cracked into this Lanson Gold Label 2005 Champagne we picked up for $70.

You can read more about me and the TC in my celebratory post -> https://travellingcorkscrew.com.au/blog/eighth-birthday/

In the glass it’s a lovely golden shade with plentiful dancing bubbles 💃. The nose is rather toasty with zesty citrusy and a whiff of anise and spice. In the mouth it has a smooth rich flavour with spiced citrus tarts and notes of banana passionfruit. Brilliant value for money 🙌

Didn't go with the pairing, but a good wine!

Jul 23rd, 20172008: at 15 years old: still so bright and energetic. Buttered toast, orchard apple, stone on nose. Bright acidity accompanied by fine effervescent bubbles, creamy lemon and Granny Smith apple predominate palate with nice lengthy finish….shoulda waited to open but appreciate the tension and exuberance.

Jun 10th, 2023This 09 bottling really exceeded my expectations. Even parts PN/Chard, all from gran cru villages, this showcase the long aging (in this case 9 years) and non-malo that are the signature house style beautifully. Red berries, apple, and lemon custard grace the slight nutty nose. Creamy mousse. On the palate it was supple yet bright, with a long energetic floral finish. Savory, fresh and precise.
