La Pitchoune
Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Second stop in Sonoma with Andrew Berge of Spell Estate, La Pitchoune and Tiny House to name a few. First red from La Pitchoune is their Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir which from the English Hill, Holder and DeVoto vineyards.
Light to medium ruby red with brick edges. A bit of tar on the nose with some roses and black cherries. Medium acidity (6/10) with some furry tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus body. Layered and balanced palate with notes of twigs, red berries and some lilac. Medium plus finish. Drink till 2027. $$

Love the rustic earth, mild fruit, bright acid. Savory. Thank you, Andrew Berge!

Underneath were some fire wood, red berries and purple flowers. Moderate acidity (6.5/10) and tannins (6/10) with a medium plus body. Great structure built up by the acidity with some tart red cherries, bramble berries and wood. Undertones of chalk and rose petals. Very well balanced and long dry finish. Great value and this is just their entry level Pinot. Drink till 2022.

Jan 17th, 2017Decent wine , not too over oaked. Great finish that holds for a bit with some mid level acid not usually seen for Sonoma Chardonnay to me.

Feb 7th, 2015A pretty light ruby in the glass with a wide brim. This nose. So outrageously good. Hints of tar, rose petals, and some funky earth. I love this wine. I’m always so reluctant to use this term but yes this is definitely Burgundian. And not in a pretentious way, more in a slightly dirty, funky fun way. Medium bodied and certainly not overripe or too dense on the tongue and the structure and balance are out of this world. In the mouth there’s a wonderful Pinot profile of cherries, cranberries, and earth. There’s also a smoky quality and just the right amount of oak going on. This is an absolutely gorgeous Pinot. Who’s making stuff like this as their entry level bottlings?
